Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

Germantown is in Maryland, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Germantown follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

White's Nursery is a hidden gem! Bought a few unique azaleas last year. This year they are blooming with spectacular colors!

Amazing azaleas, Mike was extremely helpful in finding the shades and bloom times I was looking for. Loved all the natives he grew himself. I am posting this review a year later, as all 6 of my azaleas are still alive and thriving. Planning to go get more again this year, as I have to drive 2 hours to get there, but it's so worth it!

Was looking for a very azalea specific azalea I had seen at a nearby botanical garden (Brookside Gardens) and was able to find it for sale at White’s Nursery. If you are passionate about azaleas, you need to visit White’s (but bring cash or check, no CCs). Mr White has literally hundreds of varieties, they are exquisite and reasonably priced. He is also very helpful, and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

The Northern Virginia Chapter of the Azalea Society of America has been doing business with White's nursery for over a decade. They consistently provide quality plants to our chapter and its members. They have provided plants for our resale at plant sales. We have recently engaged White's nursery to propagate azaleas from cuttings for us to grow to sale size. We have absolute confidence in the quality of their product. White's nursery also sells azaleas every year at the Green Spring Gardens plant sale. Their plants are always best sellers.

Mike White has been growing azaleas for over 30 years, learning everything he knows from his grandfather George Harding. He works from sun up to sun down all year long. Starting them from seedlings or cuttings, growing over 300 varieties. While he may not be able to warranty his plants like the big box stores ( because he doesn't have a big corporation backing him) he also doesn't mark up the prices, selling azaleas that are 3,4 years old for more than half the prices of those chains. So if you admit to drowning your plants , don't try to get one over on him, he won't trade them. But if you are looking for the most beautiful selection of azaleas on the east coast, White's Nursery is the place to go .
